Notes
Guy Aston lives in an old farmhouse on the Appennines near Vergato (between Bologna and Florence), a village famous for its bakery. From here he commutes to Forlý by train, his obsessively preferred means of transport. He has been working at the school since 1991, where he has been principally concerned with the introduction of computerised corpora as resources for language learning and translation. Formerly responsible for the PIXI project on the pragmatics of service encounters in English and in Italian, he currently co-ordinates a research programme on the uses of corpora in language pedagogy, and collaborates with the University of Oxford on the British National Corpus project.
